In the fall of 2014, 2015, and 2016, Jerry Varnado (along with his wife Beverly) wrote a fiftieth anniversary blog here about his years playing on Vince Dooley’s first three teams at the University of Georgia in 1964, 1965, and 1966. Here as we approach the sixtieth anniversary of the 1964 team, we are coming back with One Old Dawg and his mostly true Bulldog lore. But this time, we will have lots of Old Dawgs by interviewing some of the seniors on the 1964 team as well as a few others from those years. Sadly, several of the team members have passed, and we’ll be remembering them, too.
We’re calling this One Old Dawg’s Tailgate, so get your
potato salad and hot wings ready, because we’re starting on August 28 with Fred
Barber as told to his wife Julie Barber and we will continue throughout the
season with a post every Wednesday.
Jerry Varnado will also be weighing in with his take on each
game throughout the season.
If you followed us before, you need to sign up again for email, because we lost the email platform through Blogger. Click HERE for the email link or you can just put One Old Dawg in your browser every Wednesday. Also know, that when you sign up, you'll have to watch for a confirmation email to complete the process. Many thanks.
